Why a Journalism Background Matters
Most Salesforce consultants came from IT. I came from a newsroom.
Journalists are trained to take complex information and make it clear for general audiences. To verify facts before publishing. To organize chaos into narrative.
That training shows up in everything I deliver:
Documentation that reads like it was written for humans.
Not technical jargon designed to impress other technicians.
Data standards borrowed from AP Style.
State abbreviations, phone formats, address structures. The same discipline that makes newspapers consistent makes your Salesforce data clean.
Questions before solutions.
Journalists ask questions. They don't assume. That's why my discovery process uncovers problems other consultants miss.
Your Salesforce org tells a story. I make sure it's a clear one.
From Confused Beginner to Certified Architect
In 2012, I stared at a Salesforce screen at Environmental Defense Fund, surrounded by unfamiliar objects and automation menus, wondering what I'd gotten myself into. No technical background. No training. Just a mandate to "figure it out."
That confusion became the foundation for everything I do now.
I earned 13 certifications not because exams are fun, but because I needed to understand the platform deeply enough to explain it simply. I started teaching at NYU Tandon because I remembered what it felt like to have no clear path forward.
Clear Concise Consulting exists for the people still staring at that screen.
"I know exactly how it feels to be on the other side: confused, overwhelmed, and wondering if you made a mistake. That's why I build Salesforce solutions that don't require a technical background to use."

Understand before building.
Every engagement starts with questions, not assumptions. I need to know what's actually happening before I propose what should happen.Work with what you have.
No "rip and replace" unless absolutely necessary. Your team knows their processes. I build on that knowledge.Document everything.
Your next admin shouldn't need to call me to understand what I built. Every configuration is documented for handoff.Teach as I go.
Every project includes training. Your team should be more capable when I leave than when I arrived.Care about outcomes.
Clean dashboards, better donor retention, happier staff. Not just checked boxes on a project plan.

Big consultancies send senior architects to win your business. Then they hand your project to junior staff you've never met.
That doesn't happen here.
When you hire Clear Concise Consulting, you get me: the 13x certified architect, from discovery through deployment.
✓ The same person on every call. No handoffs to junior staff.
✓ The same person reviewing every deliverable. Consistent quality throughout.
✓ Direct access when something breaks. No "let me check with my team."
✓ No wondering who's actually building your system. You know exactly who.
You Get the Senior Person. Every Time.
We Might Not Be the Right Fit
I'm selective about projects I take on. Here's who I don't work with:
Organizations shopping for the cheapest option.
Quality Salesforce work takes time. If budget is the only factor, we're not aligned.
Teams unwilling to participate in discovery.
I need access to the people who do the work. If stakeholders won't make time for interviews, the project will fail regardless of who builds it.Projects with no decision-maker.
"We'll need to run this by the board" after every milestone creates delays neither of us wants. Someone needs authority to approve.Requests for work I can't verify.
If you ask me to build something that violates Salesforce best practices or creates security risks, I'll tell you. If you insist anyway, we part ways. This isn't arrogance. It's respect for your time and mine.
